Domestic Abuse

Domestic Abuse

What is domestic abuse?

Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, age or class. It can also affect children, even if they’re not directly experiencing abuse.

Domestic abuse can be physical, sexual, financial, emotional or psychological. It can go on for a long time and often gets worse over time, and it can be life threatening.

If you’re experiencing domestic abuse, the most important thing to remember is that it is not your fault.

Coronavirus

Unfortunately, the recent Coronavirus lockdown has been a time when relationships can become strained. In some cases, this can result in domestic abuse, and often victims feel like there is no escape due to lockdown restrictions.

It is important to remember that these rules do not prevent anyone from leaving their home or place they are staying, to escape or keep themselves safe from domestic abuse.
