Mansfield Gate at the former St Peter’s Primary School

The eagerly awaited Mansfield Gate development project has been affected by some challenges over the past year. The project, like other construction work across the country, has been delayed by restrictions due to COVID-19. We have also had to respond to the original contractor going into administration and having to make alternative arrangements.

Following the administration of CBC, we have been working closely with our new contractor Hadden Group Ltd. to prepare a list of all outstanding work to ensure that the flats are finished to the desired specification and quality. Hadden have now begun working through this list, however, due to COVID-19 working restrictions set out by the Scottish Government they have had to limit the number of workers on site.

Due to the enforced period of inactivity at the initial lockdown there are some additional works are required to the building. In order to carry out these works the contractor will need to erect scaffolding on sections of the building. They will be starting at the corner of Chancellor Street and Dowanhill Street in the coming weeks following the removal of the scaffolding adjacent to the church. Access around the site will not be affected by the scaffolding although there may be some disruption as it is erected. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

The safety of our staff, consultants and the wider community remains our priority. Unfortunately this means that we cannot progress the project at the speed we would like. As soon as it is safe to do so, there will be an increased site presence as we work to deliver this much anticipated project.

With the majority of PHA staff working from home, we are pausing the production and delivery of the paper newsletters. However we will continue to update our website and social media pages as the development progresses.

We are working towards a phased handover from summer 2021. This is dependent on covid-19 working restrictions from the Scottish Government, and therefore subject to change. We appreciate everyone’s patience during these uncertain times and in due course we look forward to welcoming new tenants to these new affordable homes within the heart of Partick.
