Keen observers among our customers will have noticed a familiar face returned to our Repairs team at the end of last year. Gerry Lafferty, who had retired over two years ago after more than 30 years of service answered our call for a Maintenance Officer to fill a short term vacancy.
Gerry was originally a Maintenance Officer at Meadowside and Thornwood Housing Association before the amalgamation with PHA in 2001, and his face is well known across the area.
Customers and staff alike were happy to see Gerry return to the fold at Partick. He slotted back into the old routine as if he’d never been away – although he did mention that he forgot how much walking Maintenance Officers have to do.
All good things come to an end however, and Gerry has now re-retired, off back to his well-earned free time and Grandad duties.
His replacement, Dorando Mulholland, starts this month and is another well-known face in Partick and Thornwood. Dorando has been working in partnership with PHA for some years as Maintenance Manager for our contractors; initially Carillion and latterly MITIE. He’s now jumped over the fence and will be a welcome addition to the team at PHA.
We wish both Gerry and Dorando every success going forward.
