Community Support from St Peter’s Contractor CBC

We have been working with our contractor on the development of the former St. Peter’s School, CBC, to devise a programme of Community Benefits associated with the project. Delivering Community Benefits provides a method of ensuring socially, environmentally and economically sustainable activities for the community – beyond the conventional requirements of the contract.

The St Peter’s Community Benefits will include engagement with the local schools and encouraging employability. Additionally, CBC are supporting local community projects. Earlier in the year, they supplied 6m³ of compost to the three local growing projects in Partick. More recently CBC supplied branded high-vis vests to the Partick Action on Litter (PAL) group.

David Belcher, a member of PAL said, “Often when we are out on litter picks, passers-by stop and ask us what we are doing. These new vests will enable us to be easily recognised as a group of volunteers in the community. We appreciate the support from CBC and PHA”.

John Callander, Business Development Manager at CBC, explained, “The St Peter’s School development is a major construction project within a densely populated residential area. A key driver in its success will be a continued proactive and considerate relationship with our neighbours and the wider community.
We’re pleased to support the community gardens and the litter action group. We look forward to working with PHA to deliver more Community Benefits throughout the duration of the contract”.
