Around 160 children from local schools took part in a fun run which is part of an ongoing programme of sports activities sponsored by Partick Housing Association.
The sponsorship will be used by Active Schools Glasgow to fund extra-curricular activity in the form of sports clubs in each of the schools; Hyndland, Notre Dame and Thornwood Primary Schools and Middlefield School, as well as one off events. Sports sessions will include: karate, football, dodgeball, multisport, dance, fun-fitness and basketball.
The clubs will be set up to target a variety of sports across the schools to ensure children are given this additional opportunity. Approximately 20 children in each school will attend the clubs for a number of weeks and this will target specific age groups.
Active schools co-ordinator, Mark O’Mara, said: “This is the fifth year of support from Partick Housing Association, which has provided sports equipment, outfits and coaching for the local schools. This funding provides opportunities for increased physical activity which helps address potential health issues. It also provides a social environment for the children to have fun. We’d like to thank the Association for their continued support”.
