It is with great sadness that the Board and staff of Partick Housing Association announce the death of Board member Eddie Jones.
Eddie passed away peacefully on Saturday 28th January, following a serious illness diagnosed in late 2015. In spite of the prognosis, Eddie was determined to continue to carry out his duties as a Board member for as long as he was able and did so until December 2016.
Eddie was voted on to the PHA Board in September 2013, following lengthy experience of work in the voluntary sector and as a founder member of the Partick HA Scrutiny panel. Not originally from the West End, he moved into the area to be with his future wife Annabel in the early 1990s. Eddie served in the British Army of the Rhine for many years, and transferred his skills to the private and public sector in the area of security and more recently in a training role. He was also a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
Eddie was involved in carrying out a review of void re-let standards and allocations in early 2013, and as a Board member with a particular interest in Health and Safety was able to assist and provide a steer to staff to overhaul the Association’s Health and Safety practices to ensure that the plan was delivered. Ever practical and with a great sense of humour, Eddie will be very sadly missed by his colleagues.
Our sympathies go out to Annabel and his immediate family.
