Throughout the February mid-term break, Partick Housing Association delivered February Fun Fest, a free programme of activities for children with lunch included. Three sessions were held daily from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 February and were available for children of primary school age to attend.

We worked with the Language Hub and Print Clan, with experienced teachers of French, Drama and Screen Printing to deliver February Fun Fest. The children were able to try a different activity each day, learning new skills whilst enjoying themselves and making new friends. After the children worked up their appetites, the Language Hub served up delicious healthy lunches.

Viki McCormick, Community Development Officer at PHA said “We were granted funding by Impact Funding Partners (formerly Voluntary Action Fund) and Glasgow City Council to deliver the sessions. Initially we offered 14 places for the programme, but these were booked up in just 24 hours. We were able to work with our funders and those supporting the delivery of the programme to accommodate an additional 10 children. We were delighted when all 24 places were booked up, and would like to thank everyone involved in making February Fun Fest happen”.

Feedback from the parents and children who attended has been very positive and we are considering ways to deliver similar projects in the school holidays throughout 2019. One of the participants said “I really enjoyed February Fun Fest. I wish it was on every week!”
