Fire Awareness Update

The recent devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in London, has brought the issue of fire safety firmly into the focus of all social Landlords.

As your Landlord, PHA would like to assure our customers that we take all Health & Safety matters very seriously and adhere to all current regulations.

The recent events have however prompted us to review our own fire safety management procedures for our buildings.

Staff have been carrying out inspections of all our closes. While carrying out these inspections, we have noticed that there are items throughout the common areas which should not be there. These include but are not limited to, bikes, plant-pots, prams, gym equipment and various other items. These present a health and safety risk, specifically in terms of safe evacuation from the building.

You must therefore ensure all items are removed from common areas immediately. This includes items placed on window-sills. We will continue to carry out inspections of these areas and expect your full co-operation.

We’ve also engaged with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who work closely with us to ensure the safety of all our tenants. Further safety information relating to high rise premises has been updated on their website and can be found at –

We take this opportunity to remind our customers that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service offer a free Home Fire Safety Visits where firefighters will provide safety advice and guidance on what to do in the event of an emergency.

To book a free home fire safety visit call 0800 0731 999, text ‘FIRE’ to 80800 or visit
